Construction

The construction began as soon as the snow melted, at the end of April 2005. The excavation and concrete work were completed ion two weeks. During the rainy month of May, I custom-welded and Philip painted the steel parts. In June, we milled the hemlock frames and stood the walls using a rented constrction lift. The roof and walls were sheathed with T&G Spruce during July. By the end of August, the roof had been insulated and clad with a standing seam metal. The exterior walls were sided during September. By November, WerkHaus was ready for winter. All of the doors, awnings, and windows were in, the building was fully insulated, and the wood stove was installed. Phil used his spare time during the Winter and Spring to work on the mechanical system. During the Spring, when Phil had the materials ready, I finished the trim carpentry, drywall, and painting.
