Energy Efficiency

Keeping with the multi-functional design theme, WerkHaus' heating, lighting, and air exchange systems are multi-purposeful and highly energy efficient. A fan drives warm air from the woodstove-heated sauna into the auto shop. A duct system allows outdoor air from the north end of the building to refresh the sauna, clear auto fumes in the garage, and exit through the south end. The wall orientations and polycarbonate windows allow for sunlight to appropriately illuminate each volume throughout the day. This reduces the need for electric lighting.
