Interiors
Facing the drastically different utilization requirements,
I designed a continuous building that is seemingly broken into two flanking volumes: the work space and the R&R space.Though still providing privacy,
the loft shares light with the garage through a polycarbonate paneled translucent wall that separates the two volumes. The structural support system
of spruce beams that are fastened by custom-welded steel gusset plates are left uncovered. By displaying materials in their natural form, the
total amount of construction material is reduced and money is saved. Likewise, by not hiding the structural elements, an appreciation of the building's
infrastructure is promoted.
